KITCHEN DESIGN PROJECT

HGTV, Home and Garden Television, is searching for a high school student to appear on their new reality interior design show "Teen Design Star". You will need to impress the judges by designing your own own kitchen. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:
Open up a word document. Save it to your "H"-drive at school. You will have 2 days of computer lab time in school to work on the project. Plan on spending time at home on your design, as well.
Choose a kitchen shape that is interesting to you; ie., L-shape, U-shape, Galley, etc. These shapes can be composed on your word document by clicking on the "insert" tab and selecting a shape you like. Highlight a shape, click and drag until it represents your basic kitchen shape.
Show the appliances/fixtures using symbols: refrigerator, sink and stove/burners. These three areas are your work centers. Any other appliance that appears on the kitchen counter needs to be shown, as well (microwave, toaster, etc.).
Your work triangle needs to be shown. This is the path that is taken between the refrigerator, sink and the stove top/oven and back to the refrigerator.
The final design project needs to include a copy of your design lay-out, pictures of your appliances/fixtures (don't forget the faucet) and prices.
Finally, include a explanation of your kitchen including the following:
1. The kitchen shape
2. Advantages and disadvantages of your shape
3. Description of appliances/fixtures
4. Advantages and disadvantages of the appliances/fixtures
Project is due Monday, Sept. 19th.
