Create a secure location for
YOU, free of harassment.

Maximize YOUR effective
classroom time.

Create a focus to help YOU
learn Math even better.
-
Prepare YOU for life outside
of school.
Results for those who do not
follow the rules:
1. Warning (We should
never go beyond this!)

3. Parents called, offender sent out of room, principal involved...

Procedures: “The way we do things to be efficient & effective”
Why
do we have procedures? -- To be successful in learning.
Entry:
Arrive on time.
Go to
your assigned seat and put personal materials away.
Pick up Communicator package
Take out
your notebook, pencil (bring several & Be Prepared) and a positive attitude.
Have your homework assignment ready to be checked.
Don't waste your classmates' time while you look for it.
Do DONOW
Assignment (extra classroom participation if you do it on the board)
If you are
not in your seat when the bell rings, you are Tardy.
During Instruction: Listen with full attention. I expect
your attention during discussion/lecture.
I expect your
attention on assigned deskwork.
I expect your
attention on group work.
Socializing
is done outside of class.
Ask questions related to the
subject.
Other questions can be asked after instruction.
Please make
questions specific, which shows you have given thought to the topic.
Do not
just say, "I don't understand."
Explain what you don't
understand.
Good
questions confirm understanding, secure additional detail or clarify concepts.
Always
listen to and think about your classmate's questions. They can help YOU learn.
Responses to
My Questions / Participation:
Enter with a positive attitude, leave any crankiness outside the door.
Participation is EXCELLENT & a part of your grade.
Please
raise your hand to signal you have an answer.
Do not
shout out answers. That steals the opportunity for others to answer.
Sometimes
there are several right answers, or answers may be partially correct.
Silly
answers are rude and waste your classmates' time.
I may call
on someone regardless of raised hands - everyone should be involved.
While You are Working:
Follow directions the first time.
If you do not understand ask
students around you. If they did not understand ask me.
Cooperate with each other, be
polite and do your best.
Helping each other means explaining how to do something, not just giving the
answer.
Talking should be done quietly. No one else should hear you.
Respect each other & be friendly.
Use your time wisely and finish
on time.
Turning in
Papers:
Please
complete papers neatly.
Please
staple multiple sheets together.
Always show
your work and label answers.
Put your
name on the top.
Never use
red pen, so you can see my comments.
When
work is completed early:
Double-check your work and eliminate sloppy mistakes.
Begin any
posted assignment
Study next
lesson in text.
Do not
interrupt others, it is rude.
Dismissal:
I dismiss
you.
Neither
clock nor bell dismisses you.
Do not pack
up, nor leave your seat before I dismiss you.
Always
remember to copy down homework assignment.
Homework:
Expect to have homework. Look for its posting.
Homework
must be completed for the next day, unless otherwise specified.
You earn 100% if homework is fully completed, work is shown and it is on time.
You earn
credit for attempting all problems and showing your work.
Homework
not completed receives a ZERO. (1 grade per week)
If YOU
start on homework before the end of class, before instructed to do so, you will
receive a ZERO for the homework.
If you are
out the day before and I check homework, show me the prior day’s homework.
Academic Honesty:
Make sure everything you turn in is your own work.
Copying homework will not help you learn the concepts and it is unlikely you
will pass quizzes, tests or the course.
Talking during tests or quizzes is considered cheating. Stay quiet during
assessments, even after You are done.
There are no shortcuts!
If you are
Tardy:
Do not distract others.
Just give me your pass and go to your desk.
You are not excused from work you missed.
Get
assignments from classmates.
Complete
the work at home.
Show me
your homework at the end of the period.
If you are Absent:
You are not excused from work you
missed.
It is your responsibility to make up all missed assignments.
Get assignments from classmates.
Complete the work at home.
Get worksheets from me.
If you missed a test, see me to arrange a make up time during academic lunch.
Work must be made up in a timely manner or a
zero is earned.
(Officially 1 day out = 1 day to make up work
2 days out = 2 days to make up work etc.)
Restrooms:
Should be
used before class.
Medical
conditions need note from nurse.
Pass is
only to restroom and you must return quickly.
Sign out legibly: name, time out, time return.
Leaving Room
to go to Lockers:
Not
allowed. Be Prepared.
If you
forgot materials, borrow from a classmate.
Food:
No
food/drink in class (school rules)
Gum allowed
– unless I find it is left, and then the entire class loses privilege.
Electronics:
None, except for a calculator.
Leave others in your locker. (school rules)
Calculators on phones or other
devises are not considered calculators.
At times you will not be allowed to use calculator.
Do not preprogrammed info on it.
= Considered cheating for quiz/test.
Confiscated electronics will be
delivered to the office for parent/guardian pickup.
Classroom
Interruptions (phone, someone at door etc):

remain quiet.
