Mr. Reimer's Internet Resources

The number of resources available on the Internet is HUGE.  Here are just a few.

Arithmetic & Basic Math
Pre-Algebra - General Sites
Pre-Algebra - Unit Specific
Trigonometry

Old Fashioned Book(s)

OK, so this first resource is not an Internet Resource...  But I've heard reviews, heard her speak at a conference, and finally over the summer read two books by Danica McKellar (you may know her from reruns of The Wonder Years and also The West Wing.  What she does well is to present middle school math in a light easy way that is fun to read.  It also aims to build confidence.  Her audience is girls, but guys, if you can get through all that "relationship" stuff it should help you too.  And it might help you understand something about how girls think...

The two books I read are:  Math Doesn't Suck  and Kiss My Math.  We learn concepts from both books.  I borrowed copies from our public library.  But I know you can pick up a copy at a bookstore or Internet too.

I've been working with the Librarian with these.  He is in the planning stages to set up a new program for students who scored well on NJASK Language Arts, but low in Math, to work together in a book club to read and discuss Kiss My Math.
