Annenberg Teacher's Lab:
Based upon the popular math and science professional development series, Each Lab combines online activities with background
information and interactive polls or worksheets participants can use in their classrooms,
plus links to related Web sites.
AskEric: Most teachers are familiar with Eric,
the research tool that is primarily for educators. Besides having a search tool, AskEric
also posts lesson plans in its Virtual Library.
AT&T Learning Network Resources
for Teachers From AskLN, an online mentoring program for teachers, to
Internet 101 and a Web Tour, educators will find this spot useful.
Awesome Library: This site
provides a list of subject related lesson plans, including arts, science, math, language
arts/English and more.

This colorful and well designed site offers activities and lesson plans.
Busy Teachers Web Site K-12: Developed
by Georgia Tech, this site lives up to its name. Subject category links ranging from
chemistry to art makes searching for education related sites easy. There is also a
Teachers Reference section which lists current educational topics and additional links.
California Distant Learning Program:
While visiting the web pages, you will notice two sections Learning Resources for students
and Teachers Resources for teachers. In the Learning Resources section, students will be
able to read and hear short stories, answer comprehension questions and check their
answers.
Ciscos Virtual Schoolhouse:
The many hypertext links are nicely categorized for ease of use. If you are searching
for lesson plans and other resources, click classrooms. They also have The Playground, a
place for teachers or students to have a bit of fun!
Classroom Connect: This is another site
dedicated to the classroom teacher. Included are links to thousands of online schools, a
search engine, and to the K-12 classroom. Searching is by subject category and ranges from
Literature to Administration. There is also a virtual auditorium in which teachers may
participate in online forums on selected topics. Check out the resource station as well to
discover online materials for educators.

to educational resources on the Web. This site also offers opportunities for
teachers to learn the net and much more.
Check out the latest addition, CLN What's

Connections +: In addition to

Core Knowledge
Lesson Plans: E. D. Hirsch, Jr., a professor at the University of Virginia
and author of m Cultural Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know founded core
knowledge. The lesson plans, labeled for each grade level, ascribe to the core
knowledge philosophy.
- Cyberguides: Teacher & Student
Activities: CyberGuides are
supplementary, standards-based, web-delivered units of instruction centered on core works
of literature. They are designed for the classroom with one online computer. Each
CyberGuide contains a student and teacher edition, standards, a task and a process by
which it may be completed, teacher-selected web sites and a rubric, based on California Language Arts Content
Standards.
- Discovery
Channel School: This redesigned web site is teacher friendly get lesson plans that have questions,
vocabulary, activities, links, and video preview. Included are theme pages on
Ancient Egypt, Astronomy, History of Science,
American Revolution, and World in Conflict.
D & W Teacher Resources:
This site, developed by two teachers, provides lesson plans, education links and advice to
the new teacher.
- Edsitement
Site: Sponsored by NEH, this site offers a hotlist to top humanities sites.
It offers online learning guides which include lesson plans that help students,
teachers, and parents use the internet effectively. Lesson plans are in history,
social students, English, language arts, foreign language and art history.
- EdsOasis:
Sponsored by the AT & T Learning Network, this site features stories, lesson
plans, and other information geared to teachers who use the Internet.
- Education Index: This is an annotated list of the best educational resources available
on the web. The index is easy to use--topics are sorted by subject and
lifestage.
- Education
Policy Analysis Archives: If you are searching for education research or database,
the Education Policy Analysis Archives provides an opportunity to search the archives for
the necessary information. Browse abstracts, submit an article or commentary, and conduct
searches. Articles are of a good quality, and important educational topics are explored.
Education Testing ServiceEducation Testing
Service provides a list of information on colleges and universities. In addition, test
registration for SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEEFL, LSAT are all available. Information on financial
aid and test preparation materials are also available.
Education World: Education World has
a database of over 20,000 URLs as well as monthly site reviews of education-specific
topics, a message board, a listing of K-12 school sites, as well as subject category
listings. You may also subscribe to two e-mail services, one of which will enable you to
receive a monthly listing of the site reviews, the other of which enables you to receive
bimonthly listings of education news. Two other features of note are a Teacher Resource
link to lesson plans and curriculum and a Student Resource link, which provides listings
of everything from financial aid to games.
Eisenhower National Clearing House: Nationally
recognized, the Eisenhower National Clearing House is a great place for information on
Math & Science. Publications, Resources, hot links, lesson plans and discussion groups
are available. This is a must-visit site for the math and science educator. It is also a
great site to search for ideas on integrating science and math with other subject areas.
EvaluTech: This site
is a searchable data base of curriculum related materials for K-12. Sponsored by
SREB and the North Carolina Department of Instruction, the site offers reviews of software
and a Criteria for Evaluation of Resources.
- Federal
Resources for Educational Excellence: This site offers o a treasure trove of historical documents,
scientific experiments, mathematical challenges, famous paintings, and other tools for
teachers & students. Thousands of topics can be searched -- the Civil War, the
Constitution, photosynthesis, condensation, immigration, Picasso, Jefferson, Henry David
Thoreau, Mary Cassatt, Jackie Robinson, the Amistad Case, the America Reads Challenge,
famous FBI cases, cartography, genealogy, the Renaissance, calculus simulations,
"today in history," the human genome project, epidemiology, "the African
American odyssey," the solar system, the microbe zoo, and others. Resources can also
be viewed in 12 subject areas.
Gander Academy's Theme-related
Resources This site is
specifically created for the elementary teacher by an elementary teacher. The site starts with a list of 27 general
categories of interest to elementary students (Dinosaurs, Legends, Natural Disasters,
Weather). This site could save you much time if you are creating your own web resources.
GEM: The Gateway to Educational Resources: GEM
is a growing consortium of lesson plan collections on the Net. The site features a search
engine.
- Global Schoolhouse:
Presented by the SchoolNet Foundation and sponsored by Microsoft, this site offers
education resources, activity guides, a registry for classroom projects, and a data base
of schools that are on the Internet. This site provides search capacity. Other offerings
are links to the Encarta Schoolhouse, which offers monthly web site topics. One of the
recent monthly listings at this web site was "Life in the Ocean." You can also
use Microsofts new Automap Road Atlas from this site (get detailed driving
instructions to an address that you typed in), and download new software from Microsoft
that would be useful for educators.
Hazel's Homepage
A first and second grade teacher, Hazel has links to children's' authors, web integration
ideas and classroom projects.
- Helping Your Students with Homework The U.S. Department of Education's Office of
Educational Research & Improvement (OERI) produced this site. Filled with ideas from
teachers for helping make homework effective, the site is organized around 18 tips for
getting homework done.
Houghton Mifflin K-8 Activities:
The Education Place Activity Search is a
searchable database of 400+ original K-8 classroom activities and lesson plans for
teachers and parents. You may search for activities by both curriculum area and grade
level.
Learning Page: The Learning Page provides free, downloadable worksheets and
lesson plans for teachers and parents of elementary level schoolchildren. There are
hundreds of pages in theme-based and basic skills categories
Institute for Transfer of Technologies: The
Education Hot Links at this site are very well done. Sample categories are education
standards, grant and foundation resources, education research, curriculum development as
well as specific curriculum subject areas.
Intel in Education Home Page:
Lesson plans, primarily in the areas of science, mathematics and technology, are
available at Intel's site. You may direct students looking for science fair topics
to this site, or use the Biology lesson plans for elementary teachers. The site has
many more topics available.
Internet Education Group:
The What On Earth-based lesson plans are integrated with the
Internet and will engage student learning. The site also has compiled a list of Lesson Plan Links, where you can access thousands of online lesson
plans. This is the home of Weekly Lessons, an e-mail
newsletter distributed to K-12 educators that notifies teachers about online lesson plans
they can use in their classrooms
Just in Time Training:
The site offers lesson plans and projects.
Kathy Scrhrocks Guide for
Educators: This guide for educators provides hypertext. The links are separated
into subject specific areas.
The Learning Space Learning Space was created by
teachers for teachers. The space offers online lesson plans, Internet projects, classroom web
pages, a teacher chat room, tutorials and much more.
Lesson Plans from the
Teacher's Desk: Geared to
grades 5 & 6, this site contains a collection of over 250 lesson ideas for
Spelling, Writing, English, Reading, and Vocabulary activities, with a few extras
thrown-in.

Make the Link:Learning
Standards Benchmark Grid This site has lessons linked to Illinois Standards

National Address Servers: The
National Address Server allows you to type in an address and receive its zip code + 4.
This address can then be put in MapBlast
and a map of the area of the address will be drawn. It also links to Mapquest to draw a map. Students will love
this site.
New York Times Teacher Connection:
This site offers daily lesson plans (and archieve) based on current events.
Content is outstanding. Editors link the plans to national standards.
NoSweat.com: Teacher
Resources: Home of Homework Central, this site offers teachers lesson plans,
school projects, professional resources, and links to other valuable sites. Teachers
may also wish to explore the Homework
Central area for students--it is separated in three areas (elementary, high
school and college).
Online
Educator: This online newsletter features recommended links and articles.
It is updated weekly on Monday.
- Ozline:
Tom March, creator or
co-creator of Eyes on Art, Searching for China, Filamentality, Black History Month, and
the WebQuest strategies has collected many of the online activities he's developed.
PacBell's Knowledge Network
Blue Web'n: One of the finest sites for educators on the web, Blue Web'n has
a searchable data based of K-12 applications. Almost everything posted is excellent and
useable. The site is categorized by subject, grade level and type.
PBS Teacher Source:
This site features a growing inventory of more than 1,000 lesson plans and teacher guides.
You'll find resources grouped by subject area.
Phonics Link:
The Phonics Link provides a place to build your background knowledge about
phoneme awareness and phonics, to discuss professional books with other teachers and to
find practical classroom lessons.
Planet K-12: This site offers a
wealth of educational information. A grants and funding page called "Finance
Matters" provides links to corporate and government-sponsored programs. The
"Technology Resources" page provides information on technology planning, lesson
plans, reference materials, and career planning.
- Professional
Cartoonist Teacher Guide: The Professional Cartoonists' Index offers newspaper editorial cartoons. The
teachers' guide helps to interest students in current events, symbolism, satire,
metaphor and irony. Lesson plans use games to encourage students to discuss current
events and explore and interpret the symbolism in cartoons.
Purdue University On-Line Writing Lab: The
Purdue University Writing Lab has gone on-line with Resources for Writing that include
handouts and relevant links. Information about Search Tools and Indexes is excellent for
both advanced users and beginners. Since all teachers should be teachers of writing,
exercises and handouts should be useful for all.
SchoolPage:
The site offers lesson plans for specific subject areas, templates, and monthly
articles.
Schoolhouse Encarta:
At this site, you can contribute lesson plans, check other lessons, search student
resources, or explore teacher resources. This is a very rich site.
Study Web: Resource links by
subject area are featured at this site. Teachers will also find integration ideas.
Teachers First: In addition to lesson plans grouped by
subject and sorted by grade level, the site has some information on using the Internet,
along with a glossary of terms and a browser tutorial. "Hot Topics"
has updated links to sites related to current education issues.
Teachers Guide to the Holocaust:
The Teacher's Guide to the
Holocaust has a powerful combination of words, music, photographs and art. The site
provides a factual but chilling account of the Holocaust, its victims and perpetrators.
Teacher resources, classroom activities, Web links, a Holocaust glossary and timeline are
featured.
Teachers Helping Teachers: Designed
by teachers, this site has a vast amount of useful information for teachers. Among the
highlights are Teaching Ideas & Tips, categorized according to subject area, an area
to post lesson plans that you would like to share, and links to Educational Resources.
Best of all, this site is updated, weekly, and has new information available regularly.
Teachers Lesson Plan Exchange: This
lesson plan exchange board gives teachers access to some of the best lesson plans on the
Web. This is also a good place to post your own lesson plans. You will leave this site
with at least one lesson plan that youll want to try.
Teacherzone This site currently features articles on school web sites. In addition, the
site links to teacher lesson plans, principal vision, special reports and more.
Teachnet: Internet lesson plans in most subject areas are provided at this site. Look
for other information, hints for teachers, and summaries of topical concerns.
Virtual Blackboard: The
Virtual Blackboard is a free service to K-12 teachers developed by Tramline, Inc and
sponsored by the ATT Learning Network. It is designed to show teachers how to develop
effective Internet teaching presentations and it provides tools for doing so. All teaching
materials on the site are vetted by site editors who make sure that sound teaching methods
are followed and curriculum objectives are met. They also make sure the material is
motivating, educational, and fun.
Web Sites and Resources for Teachers This
California State University site offers rich links to sites categorized into eight
curriculum topics.
wNet School: wNetSchool,
designed by classroom teachers and technology experts, offers K-12 teachers diverse
information, from standards-based lesson plans and classroom activities to reviews
of curriculum-based Web sites.
World School: This site has many
links to lesson plans. A wonderful feature is the rated sites for classroom use. Teachers
have rated the sites as to the potential for application in the classroom. Visit it soon!

programs that involve writing and print awareness. Site also includes
links to writing contests and samples of children’s writing. This can

these postcards to other people who are on-line. The recipient is notified
by e-mail. They can also include links and pictures on them. I think that
this would be useful practice for students’ communication skills.

pets, sports, and other topics. They can also read other children’s
entries. They will get responses, after writing, via e-mail. I found this to
be an innovative way to motivate students to write and boost their

letter writing projects to sick or injured children and the elderly. There
is also an opportunity for creative writing about the pictures that are on

sports, news, and reviews. It also allows them to submit articles they write
on their own. This would be a very interesting way to introduce children to
writing for news media.

This is one of the most useful writing sites for children on the web. It has
a free library of how-to info, a chat room for children’s writers and
illustrators, writing surveys for kids, and a question board for children to
ask questions to children’s authors and receive responses. There is also a
link to writing tools for children’s authors including books and
addresses.

This site is a great resource for your gifted students who need enrichment
in the regular classroom. It will be a little advanced in some parts, but
the weekly idiom and fable are great! There are on-line exercises to do with
the fable that enrich vocabulary and comprehension. It has a great deal of
potential to improve writing with enrichment for style and vocabulary.

writing dialogue. There is also a blank page designated for students’
submitted stories and poems. Goals are to publish something new every week.
Kids can easily and safely manage this site.

This site is very cool! Students try to communicate on original monsters
features from an image on their screen to another child’s mind using
learned writing skills and technology. This is a fabulous site, home of the
Monster Exchange Project. Schools and students from around the world

in a context that they will find enjoyable. It offers a chance to write to
