A Web Quest designed for grade four students in the areas of Science, Language Arts, and Math.

Do you have the right stuff to become part of a space team?  Do other worlds interest you?  Would you like to travel to distant planets?  Well, Mission Control has this special opportunity for you.

The Commander at Mission Control is giving a few students the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to participate in a space mission which will explore one of the planets of our solar system. In order to be selected for this mission, you have to be willing to work as part of a crew on a spaceship and read directions carefully.  But first, you must answer some questions for Mission Control to see if you are the right person for the job. After answering the questions, click the spaceship at the bottom of this page to see if you made the team for the Planetary Web Quest of a lifetime.

Before you answer any questions, make sure the speaker on your computer is turned on.  You will need it to listen to any instructions given by Mission Control.  If you hear a beeping sound right now, or if you don't, you should follow these instructions.  Right/click the tiny speaker at the bottom/right of  the computer screen.   Then left/click on Open Volume Controls.  If the volume is muted (that means you can't hear anything), uncheck the mute box on the far left.  Adjust the volume control on the far left so it isn't too loud ( about half way up).  Then minimize (-) the volume control because you may need to make the volume louder or softer later.  Don't touch anything else!

Answer the questions carefully, so you may join Mission Control and be selected for this mission.

Application to become an astronaut at Mission Control

1. What is the name of your school?

2. Are you in fourth grade?

3. Are you at least nine years old?

4. Do you follow directions carefully?

5. Do you work well with others?

6. Do you know how to operate a computer?

7. Do you want to learn more about the planets in our solar system?

8. Are you ready to go on a space mission where no one has gone before?

If you feel you have answered the questions carefully and truthfully, click on the spaceship below (before it disappears into deep space.)  Perhaps you will be granted access to Mission Control and become one of the youngest astronauts in the galaxy.  Good luck.
We hope to see you back at Mission Control shortly.
